After 43 years of serving children and families, we wish to inform the community that the 2023-24 school year will be our last in operation; Mad River Montessori will be closing its doors on June 12, 2024 due to recent Transitional Kindergarten legislation which has significantly impacted our ability to retain 4 and 5 year old students.

We would like to express our gratitude to the many students and families, past and present, who have been the heart and soul of our community, as well as the dedicated Board Members who have shared their time and talents with us. We especially want to thank our school’s founding Director, Robin Renshaw, and her devoted and generous partner, Richard Swisher, for their tireless efforts to bring Montessori education to Arcata.


 
 
 
 
 

Mad River Montessori School serves up to 30 children in a combined classroom setting. We serve children from the age of 3 through 6 years old, including the Kindergarten year.
